Beaufort, South Carolina - The weather conditions as well as the final results from the conference championships could not have been more perfect for the St. Thomas University cross country teams as their seasons drew to a close.  The men finished eighth in the conference out of eight teams, while the women pulled off a seventh place standing by completing a brand new course concocted by NAIA newcomers University of South Carolina Beaufort. The Sand Sharks hosted the 5k and 8k races at their home track of Jasper Park in Beaufort, South Carolina, and by all accounts the course as well as the competition on it was a sight to see.

Lake Buena Vista, FL - The men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in one of the biggest meets of the year last Saturday; the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic. With over 300 runners in each race, both the men and the women had a lot of ground to cover, as well as a lot of competition. The top finishers for the men were Willie Bankston, who has been battling through a fierce knee injury, and Michael Jordan. The two posted times of 35:37 and 36:50 respectively, earning them 297th and 304th place out of 324 runners.

September 10, 2008 - The St. Thomas cross country men’s and women’s teams officially began their 2008 campaign after competing in the Florida Tech Invitational in Melbourne, Florida.  The teams were unable to compete in their first scheduled event, the Early Bird Classic, due to eligibility concerns with the men’s team, and added this meet to make up for the lost date.  The men currently have only four eligible runners, and as such were forced to compete as individuals with no team score, and only three of the four entrants successfully finished the 8K course.   The women’s team is a much different story, as they fielded eight runners, all of whom completed their 5K run.
