MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Women’s Tennis team was swept Saturday in matches against Middlebury. The Bobcats contended well in several matches but could not gather a point towards the final tally. The pairing of Manuela Gil and Ydsia Quintero in STU’s first double match ended with a 9-7 total, the Bobcats’ closest match of the day. Bridget Castillo and Stephanie Pfeffer went down 8-1, while Camille Allen and Alina Ramirez contested but fell 8-5. Gil lost her singles match, 6-0 6-2, Castillo lost, 6-1 6-1, Quintero, 6-3 6-0, Pfeffer, 6-2 6-3, Allen, 6-0 6-0 and Beatrice Giovanardi, 6-1 6-0. The ladies fall to 2-7 on the season and will face Rollins Sunday.

This match was also part of the United States Tennis Association’s “Kids Day” program designed to promote collegiate level tennis to local community children.

BOCA RATON, Fla.- St. Thomas visited Lynn Tuesday afternoon and were shutout by the Knights, 9-0. Lynn's Magdalena Ekert and Eleonora Iannozzi defeated Manuela Gil and Yosia Quintero, 8-2, in the top spot while Jessica Yanoff and Christine Johnstone teamed to beat Alina Ramirez and Camille Allen by the same score in the third flight. The Bobcats were closed out in doubles action as Alisson Siaci and Tessie Salame got the decision over Stephanie Pfeffer and Bridget Castillo, 8-3. STU gave Lynn few problems in singles play as three different Knights posted clean 6-0, 6-0 victories. The Bobcats come out 1-3, and will welcome #4 Embry-Riddle Friday at 2 PM.
