BABSON PARK, FL – The St. Thomas University Bobcats win 1-0 versus Webber International University in an 8 inning pitching dual. Freshman Jenny Rodriguez (Barbara Goleman HS), pitched 4 innings, giving up only 3 hits in a scoreless game. The Bobcats broke the scoreless tie in the top of the eighth inning. Tina Diaz had a sacrifice bunt to move Noralis Lambert to third base in scoring position. After an intentional walk, Lambert scored on a throwing error after Jess Vera’s line drive to third base. Senior Kelly Deibler came in for the bottom of the 8th inning and closed the game for the Bobcats. The win brings the Bobcats overall record to 17-21 (6-4 in The Sun Conference).
This was game 1 of the 3 game series versus Webber. The Bobcats take the field for a double-header on Saturday (April 18). The double-header will also be played at Webber International University and game 1 is set to begin at 12:00 pm.
