MIAMI, Fla.-  The Bobcat Baseball team faced inner-city rival Barry Univ. Thursday and beat the NCAA D-II opponent 8-7.  STU jumped out to a 7-2 lead after three innings.  The Bobcats held on despite a 5-run rally from the Buccaneers in the sixth.  Victor Madrazo and Nestor Rincon led the Bobcats with 2 and 3 RBIs, respectively.  Jeff Lara recorded the win in four innings of relief.

The weekend matchup pitted the Bobcats against #2 NCAA D-II Fla. The first of game of the Saturday doubleheader proved to be a slugfest with 28 total runs scored. Again, the Bobcats found themselves with a lead, up 11-3 through six.  Unfortunately, the Mocs got hot late and scored 12 runs in the final three innings.  The final game of the series was much more defense-oriented.  The Bobcats tied the game in the bottom of 5th at 2-2.  Andres Ibarz pitched seven complete innings and handed the reigns to Victor Madrazo in the 8th.  Madrazo surrendered the final run and the Bobcats fell, 3-2.

STU comes out at 1-3 for the week despite their solid play.  The Bobcats will go to Nova Tuesday for a 6 PM game.
