LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Bobcat Baseball team traveled to Warner this weekend for a 3-game series. The Bobcats lost Friday night and were set back by poor weather Saturday, so the final games were played Sunday afternoon. STU went 1-2 on the weekend and fall to 7-11 on the season (3-3 TSC).
The Bobcats struggle to get the bats going Friday, after surrendering 5 runs in the first two innings. STU scored in the 5
th and 6
th but gave up 3 more runs in the bottom of the 6
th and the deficit was too much to overcome.
Marlon Pascual and
Nestor Rincon each recorded an RBI, while Michael Arostegui got the loss giving up 7 earned runs in five and a third innings.
In the first game Sunday, STU once again found themselves down early.
Miguel Hernandez gave up 8 runs in three and two-thirds innings, although only 5 were earned. The Bobcats only had 5 hits in the game and lost 11-1.
The Bobcats finally got some offense in the final game of the series, and scored 14 runs on 14 hits. STU had a huge 3rd inning that included 7 runs, putting them up 8-0. Jeff Lara pitched a great game, giving up 2 runs on 24 batters faced through six innings. Stephen Merino and Frank Suarez led the Bobcats with 4 RBIs apiece. Merino had a home run and 2 doubles in the game.
The Bobcats will go to Nova Wednesday for a 6 PM game.
