Men's Tennis team at the Conference Banquet before Saturday's action

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams competed in the semifinals of the Sun Conference Tournament Saturday.  The 15th ranked Men’s team beat #19 Webber Int’l, 6-2, to advance to the Conference Tournament Finals.  The Women’s team was shut out by Embry-Riddle, 5-0.

Webber won the #1 doubles match over Adrian Escarate/Estaban Mesa, 8-3. The Bobcats took the #2 match, 8-5, and assembled a huge rally in the #3 match after being down 5-0.  Andrew Rifkin/Frederico Acevedo overcame Webber’s third pairing to take the 9-7 winner and the Bobcats’ second point in doubles action.

STU dominated singles play, as Escarate, Gonzalo Gayoso, Rifkin, Acevedo, and Mesa all took their matches.  Webber only received 1 point in singles play and the Bobcats advance to the conference finals following the 6-2 victory.

The Women’s team faced a tough Embry-Riddle squad, who came in ranked 6th nationally.  The ladies failed to earn a point and were sent home 5-0.

The Men’s Final will take place Sunday at 10 AM, as the #15 Bobcats face the #3 Eagles of Embry-Riddle.  Follow the action live by clicking on the link below:
