Nestor Rincon's 2 RBIs in the ninth inning helped the Bobcats beat SCAD Monday

FT. MYERS, Fla. – The Bobcats rallied with 3 runs in the ninth inning Monday to top the SCAD Bees.  Nestor Rincon continued his strong offense and knocked in 2 runs in the bottom of the ninth to mount a Bobcat charge.

Defense was defined the game until the sixth inning when Stephen Merino scored on a Robert Rodriguez single to right field. The Bees took the lead in the seventh, however, with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.  SCAD built on their lead with 1 run in the eighth, leaving just one inning for the Bobcats to rally or face elimination.

The Bobcats’ first two batters were put out, bringing Lance Larimer to the plate. Larimer, Alvaro Bastos, and Merino all singled in succession.  Larimer scored and Rincon came to the plate with 2 on and 2 out.  Rincon singled to the left side, scoring William Mizrahi and Jeff Lara to give the Bobcats a 4-3 edge.

Anthony Perez came in to relieve Ali Salazar and finish out the game for St. Thomas.  Perez forced back-to-back groundouts and a fly out to finish the amazing come back.  STU will face Embry-Riddle today at 11 AM.
