Softball Conference Tournament

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference Softball Tournament is scheduled for May 8-9, 2010 and will feature the top four teams from conference play.

The NAIA No. 25 Warner Royals clinched their third consecutive Sun Conference regular season title over the weekend as they took all three games from Edward Waters to finish with a 13-2 conference mark. The Royals, 28-12-1 overall, secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.

The Webber International Warriors enter the tournament as the second seed after finishing the 2010 campaign with a 12-3 conference record and 32-18 record overall. The Warriors were the third seed last season and knocked off the Royals in an elimination game, 3-2.

Savannah College of Art & Design garnered the No. 3 seed. The Bees (9-6 conf., 32-15 overall) are the defending champions of the four-team event, going a perfect 3-0 last season while scoring seven runs in each of their three games.

The Bobcats of St. Thomas round out the tournament field, grabbing the fourth seed with a 6-9 conference record and 14-25 record overall. The Bobcats lost in the tournament championship last season to SCAD, 7-5.

The Diamond Plex in Winter Haven, Fla. will be the site of the 2010 Sun Conference tournament. The Royals and Bobcats will square off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday while the Warriors and Bees will do battle at the same time. The two winners from both games will compete at 6:30 p.m. while the two losers of the first games will play as well. Games will take place at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
