Miami Gardens, Fla. – The Bobcats opened their season September 4th, 2010 at 2 pm against the Florida Institute of Technology. The St Thomas University women's soccer team surrendered an early goal to Florida institute of Technology (FIT) due to a penalty kick. FIT scored once more and STU was unable to find an equalizer, falling by a score of 2-1 to the Panthers on Saturday afternoon in Miami Gardens, FL
Bobcats forward Monica Lozano scored the only goal for the team, and goalkeeper Victoria Shahbaz led the team defense finishing the game with 14 saves. For the Panthers, Casey Lademann led their offense with four shot and two goals made. FIT goalkeeper, Mist Eliasdottir finished with one save.
