The St. Thomas men's and women's tennis teams dominated at the 2012 USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Daytona Beach, with 11 of STU's 12 participants advancing past Thursday's first round and six Bobcats advancing to the third round.

St. Thomas women's tennis player Tetiana Kovalska won the 2012 USTA/ITA Regional Championships with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Embry-Riddle's Hui-I Huang and will advance to the 2012 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships, October 11-14 at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala. Kovalska defeated the tournament's number one seed Theresa Schmaus, enroute to her championship run. 
 
The men's side of the draw was highlighted by newcomer Juan Bravo and Sophomore Grover Ordonez defeated their first two opponents to advance to the third round. St. Thomas men's tennis team were able to advance six of the seven players pass the first round of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Daytona Beach.

For the women's team, there was similar success with four out of five Bobcats - Gabriella Bongiovanni, Tatiana Kovalska, Ashley Ahern and Monica Rekkedal - all advancing to the third round. Gabriella Bongiovanni and Monica Rekkedal both were able to advance to the Quarter-Finals of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships.

Women's doubles team was led by Kovalska/Bongiovanni who advanced to the Quater-Finals of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Daytona Beach. STU Kovalska/Bongiovanni defeated Souki/Toth (NW) and Tomiotto/Gonzalez (ER) before falling to the eventual champions. Men's Doubles team, Ordonez/Listo had a solid perform by advancing to the third round of the Men's Doubles tournament at the
USTA/ITA Regional Championships.
