Athletic Training
Mission Statement:
The Athletic Training and Sports Medicine Staff at St. Thomas University is committed to delivering the highest quality health care to our student-athletes. Our aim is to provide safe and healthy opportunities for practice and competition. Our mission is to promote and maintain the health of student-athletes by providing a full range of acute care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses, as well as referral services when appropriate.
The Sports Medicine Staff at St. Thomas has two full time board certified Athletic Trainers, who are members of the National Athletic Trainers Association and licensed by the State of Florida. The Athletic Trainers work in cooperation with both orthopedic and podiatric physicians, which creates a comprehensive team to deliver health care to our student-athletes.

Information about single day tryouts:
If you will be involved in a one day tryout, please print the appropriate forms and have them filled out upon arrival to the school. You will need to turn them into the Athletic Training Room, prior to ANY activity. If you are missing any of these papers, you will not be able to tryout.
You will need to bring:
1. A copy of your primary insurance card (front and back)
2. A completed copy of the Tryout Medical Questionnaire
Notice on the Student Health Insurance:
All Student Athletes are required to have a primary health insurance plan. Student are able to have either: Private Primary Health Insurance or the Aetna Student Health plan that is offered through the school. All students will be automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan unless they go online and waive the school's plan. This can be done online at http://www.aetnastudenthealth.com/stu_conn/student_connection.aspx?groupid=474931. This form must be completed before the deadline in order to waive the student health insurance offered through St. Thomas University.
It is the student's responsibility to complete and submit this form online BEFORE the deadline. If it is not completed, the student is automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan.
